As joint owners and principle dentists Andy and Gareth as committed to providing you with quality dental treatment in a comfortable family setting.

Andrew Shaw BDS LDS RCS DPDS (Leeds)

Principle Dentist / Owner - GDC no. 63143

Andy is originally from Wakefield, West Yorkshire but has now settled in Rogerstone with his wife and two children. He qualified in Birmingham and gained valuable experience working in a large practice in Wolverhampton for seven years before moving to Wales in 1995. His passion lies in complete family care.

Gareth Melhuish-Thomas BDS (Lond.)

Principle Dentist / Owner - GDC no. 101228

Gareth qualified from Barts and the Royal London School of Medicine and Dentistry in 2005. As a fluent Welsh speaker originally from Llanelli, he returned to Wales where he has worked at the Bridges Dental Surgery since 2007. He now lives in Cardiff with his partner and 3 young children. Gareth is very interested in providing wraparound care for his patients, providing cosmetic and whitening treatments and working with specialists where needed.

Deborah Rees BDS DPDS (Wales)

Associate Dentist - GDC no. 82063

Originally from Somerset but grew up in Italy. Debbie graduated from Cardiff in 2003 and worked in general practice in Bristol for 13 years, coming to the Bridges in February 2017. Debbie has completed a diploma with the London School of facial Aesthetics, with advanced qualifications in Botox and dermal fillers. Debbie lives locally with her husband and 3 children.

Jacob Lewis BDS(Bristol) MFDS RCPS(Glasg)

Associate Dentist GDC no. 264853

Graduated University of Bristol 2016. Moved to Cardiff in 2020 to gain Hospital and Community Care experience. Jacob offers the practice Invisalign-Go treatment and enjoys improving patient's smiles. Lives in Cardiff with his partner and two kittens, and he's fulfilling his lifetime ambition and learning how to fly!

Hygienists and Therapists

Carmen, Kirsty and Freya provide a vital service in addition to your dentist to help you improve the condition of your teeth and gums. They will also help you understand how your homecare routine will prolong the life of your teeth.

All our clinicans, be it dentists, therapist or hygienist, could not do any part of our work without our amazing support team. They are instrumental in the running of the practice and keeping all us clinicans in check!

Dental Nurses (Dental Care Professionals)

The right hand of any Dental Clinician. We would be lost without them! As essential members of the team the nurses will ensure your time in the chair is as comfortable and relaxing as possible. All our Dental Nurses are qualified and registered with the GDC or are on approved training programs to obtain their qualification.

Practice Management team

Our practice management team look after the day to day running of the practice. They manage all of our ‘front of house’ work and deal with all the practice’s compliance and statutory obligations. They will be at hand to answer all your questions and deal with any comments or complaints you have.
